Dear Teaboy.

I would like to ask a hypothetical question about having a multi-user arrangement with Teaboy.

For example, say I had 3 studios and a group of staff that regularly use them. Would I be able to buy one premium subscription, install Teaboy on each studio computer and give my staff the login details for them to be able to use it independently and simultaneously in the 3 different rooms?

Basically can three (or any number) of people use Teaboy simultaneously on the same account?

Thanks

Hi Dan

Right now each login is treated as a separate account. At some point we intend to have subusers under accounts, but it wasn't possible to establish that ability upon release. We're working on building the account side of the service along with the features. And while inconvenient at this point to now have multi-user accounts, it will at least still be functional in the mean time. Right now we're working on building the subscription and account management into the client, and the next step will be then expanding accounts to allow multiple users under it. Having started with the ability would have taken a lot longer to release the service and would have compromised the features of the service initially.

So I apologize that we don't yet have this ability, but it is something that is in the plans. The next release will involve some account management abilities in the software (so you don't have to go to the web site) and once that is working correctly, multi-users will be on the agenda. For now unfortunately it means having to treat each user as its own account.

I hope my explanation isn't too wordy, I just wanted to give you an idea of where we're coming from and where it's going in regard to the issue. :)

Thanks for the info Colin and I'm sure the expansion will be great.

However, at this point in time, if I have one account - say, inter@web.com - can I log in with that account on multiple machines simultaneously and create, open, edit, save etc. different sessions at the same time? I would technically be multiple users but I would only have one account.

Thanks, Dan

It would be a violation of the TOS, but there is nothing preventing you from doing so. I just wouldn't rely on it as at some point it won't be possible. Right now it's left open because enforcing the TOS could also cause people to get temporarily locked out of their account (for example their computer crashes while logged in and the server has not realized that are no longer logged in, etc). Until the system is designed to be foolproof, it won't be enforced. Another thing to watch out for is that if 2 people are writing to the same login/account at the same time, there's always a risk of corrupting data.

I hope that helps!

Thanks for your honest and frank response.
On balance, it's probably not worth the risk of losing data.

Cheers, Dan
