What is the trick to get the knees to click into "shelf"? Sometimes if I click a certain way it seems to get there, but other times its maddening and won't go. Sometimes I have this piece of gear set to just outside of the shelf and sometimes its in the shelf, so its important I make this distinction in my documentation.

Using the mouse to push it can be tricky since a mouse/trackpad is very course. Much easier to use a scroll wheel, or to use the parameters pane and simply use the pull tab for that parameter to select "Shelf".

I am looking into creating some type of know that has a visual artifact that makes it obvious that the knob is on some clickable setting. It's very tricky. In the meantime, you can also add a comment from the Gear menu, which works much like sticky notes.
